Official American League baseball rules and the official AABC handbook rules will apply. The following modifications will be made to decrease the chance of injury during the tournament. This is a qualifying tournament for the Stan Musial World Series the next week, and, as such, we want the qualifier to get there with their roster intact.
REGULATION GAME:
A regulation game is nine innings.
COMPLETE GAME:
If a game is called for any reason, it will be a complete game if five complete innings have been finished, or if the home team has scored more runs in four innings, or four and a fraction innings than the visiting team has scored in five completed innings.
TIES:
In the event of a tie after nine innings of play, international tie breaker rules will be in play.
In the event two or more teams finish the tournament with the same won/loss record, the representative to the Stan Musial World Series will be determined by 1) head to head competition; in the event of a three way tie, the representative to the Stan Musial World Series will be determined by 2) The larger of the difference between the runs scored and the runs allowed in pool play; in the event of a two way tie at this level, the representative will be determined by #1; in the event of a second three way tie, the representative will be determined by the official scorekeepers' total of 3) most home runs; 3a) most triples; 3b) most doubles; in the event of a two way tie at this level, the representative will be determined by 1). If after applying all of the previous tie-breakers, a three way tie remains, the representative will be determined by coin flip. (odd man wins)
MERCY RULE:
If after 7 complete innings of play, the visiting team has a 10 run, or more, lead, or after 6 1/2 innings for the home team the umpires shall declare the game finished
INFIELD PRACTICE:
There will be NO infield practice prior to any game.
SPEED UP RULE:
Umpires will strictly enforce a 90 second speed up rule between innings for ALL games.
HOME TEAM:
Home team will be determined by a coin flip between a representative from both teams and the official scorekeeper prior to each game.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
All player substitutions should be reported to the official scorekeeper in addition to the home plate umpire.. Any player removed from the game shall be ineligible to return to the game.
SLIDING RULE:
Runners must slide into the bases; go around the fielder/catcher, or give up. Baserunners may not intentionally crash into a fielder or catcher, whether or not he has the ball or is fielding it. Bowling over a fielder/catcher is cause for automatic ejection by the umpire.
LINEUP:
Each manager will provide a "pressbox" copy of the game lineup, which will include full names (first and last), numbers, positions, and eligible substitutes, fifteen minutes before game time.
COURTESY RUNNERS:
Courtesy runners may be used for either the pitcher (if batting), or the catcher. The courtesy runner may not be anyone currently in the on field line-up. Teams may use the same runner for both the pitcher and catcher. The courtesy runner may enter the game as a position player or pitcher during the game, but may not be used as a courtesy runner after that time.
UNIFORMS:
Managers and coaches as well as players must wear uniforms. Managers and coaches may wear uniform shirts and may wear shorts similar in color to the uniform pants.
EQUIPMENT:
Only wooden bats may be used. Double ear flap helmets must be used by all batters and baserunners. Baseline coaches must wear helmets, ear flapless helmets are admissible.
CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE OR FORMAT:
The tournament retains the right to change the number of teams competing, schedule or venues as may be necessary for the efficient completion of this tournament.
